Job Overview

Lead and manage a technical writing team in the development, maintenance, and publishing of technical content for electric drive trucks manufactured in Peoria and relative product. Collaborate with North American and global Technical Communication leadership teams to lead North American and global projects for digital transformation, system automation, and content enhancement.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure all new, revised, and design documentation is published for on-time delivery.
  • Support and release technical content for new products.
  • Develop quality content development through cross-functional relationship building, gemba to the customer and product, and industry trends in tools and systems.
  • Employee development of team for role and career growth and employee engagement
  • Manage, refine, and create policy and standard operating procedures within the department and in conjunction with the North American technical writing groups.
  • Build business cases to approve projects that enhance safety, compliance, quality, delivery, and cost (SLQDC).
  • Support and lead SLQDC projects through to completion.
  • Research and establish industry best practices in content development and delivery.
  • Manage department budget within yearly BP.
  • Manage vendor relationship effectiveness and support.
  • Research and resolve content opportunities internally and from the Komatsu network
  • Establish quality metrics and KPIs for content quality and team development.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years technical writing experience in relative field
  • Broad knowledge of Komatsu products and systems.
  • Strong experience in content management and strategy, specifically with DITA XML. Ixiasoft and Oxygen experience a plus.
  • Technical aptitude to understand engineering information and mechanical concepts
  • Experience with parts/technical manuals and ability to apply that knowledge to Komatsu applications and products. Understanding of Bill of Materials and parts catalog creation.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with strict project deadlines
  • Demonstrated organization.
  • Proven people leader or manager
  • Track record of building win-win relationships with internal and external customers, both locally and abroad.
