Job Title: Clinic RN

Located in Milwaukee's inner city, the Midtown Clinic-Children's Wisconsin is the primary pediatric clinic of the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics and of the Children's Wisconsin serving a medically underserved population with 94% of our patients on some form of Title 19 medical insurance. The clinic operates 6 days a week including evening hours. Providing care to infants, children and adolescents, we see patients from birth to age 19. We have adolescent and teen tot clinics.

 

Location:5433 W Fond du Lac Ave, Milwaukee

Work Schedule: Full Time 40 hours

  • Orientation 08:30am- 17:30 (Monday- Friday)

  • Once off orientation 10-hour days. Monday/ Tuesday, Monday/ Wednesday, or Tuesday/ Wednesday

  • Required to work triage and rotation of being on the floor.

  • One mandatory shift during viral season.

What you will do:

The RN role practices within the Code of Ethics and Standards of Nursing Practice. Performs triage via phone and patient messaging in the electronic health record. Delegates patient care responsibilities appropriately, and maintains accountability for the quality of care. Provides for the health education needs of families with a focus on self-management and preventive health.   This role is both triage and direct patient care and phlebotomy training.

What you will need:

  • A license to practice nursing in the State of Wisconsin.

  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing in order to meet the recommended entry level for a professional nurse. 

Experience

  • Two years’ experience in a primary care or urgent care setting preferred.

  • Experience with pediatric patients preferred

  • Phlebotomy experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to work with a diverse patient population to promote a culturally competent environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for positive and effective interaction with patients, families, visitors, providers, and the health care team.

  • Good organization, delegation, and communication skills to facilitate efficient patient care.
