Job Description
We are looking for an experienced senior data engineer for our product line. The person will be responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines, models, and consumption mechanisms on using out tech stack consisting of AWS, DataBricks, Airflow, DBT amongst others. This role will work with stakeholders across the organization to leverage common solutions for the enterprise. This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate thought leadership and transform the data eco-system for drug development data.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and architect scalable and efficient solutions for ingestion, storage, and consumption of drug development data.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and access policies to ensure seamless data flow.
Guide and direct the design of conceptual, logical, and implementation of physical data models and data flows to support data analysis and business intelligence.
Roll-up sleeves and dig into code to troubleshoot issues, provide root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to mitigate issues going forward.
Engage with technical leads across different teams to identify and leverage synergies.
Stay current with new emerging technologies and conduct POCs to assess and evangelize their adoption.
Education Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of BS (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, IT, or an equivalent scientific/commercial discipline.
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum of five (5) years of IT experience, preferably in data engineering
Extensive hands-on experience with AWS data services such as Glue, Kinesis, Redshift, Step functions. Understands networking constructs such as VPCs, security groups, and access constructs using IAM, and IaC using CloudFormation or Terraform.
Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling (3NF and dimensional)
Strong data analysis skills to understand and detect basic patterns.
Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, DataBricks, RedShift)
Experience with ETL and data integration tools (dbt, AWS Glue)
Hands-on experience with DevOps technologies such GitHub, Git CI/CD and/or Jenkins and automation of deployment.
Preferred GxP systems exposure and understanding.
Preferred Experience:
Experience developing reference architecture, principles and standards, and best practices.
Familiarity with data science algorithms, such as advanced statistical methods, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP) modeling.
Knowledge of business processes and industry/market trends within the pharmaceutical space.
Track record of successfully completing multi-stakeholder projects that require cross-functional coordination between departments.
