WORKING TITLE: OPERATIONS REVIEW SPECIALIST

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Professional Development and Training department.

The mission of the Professional Development and Training Department at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide comprehensive training and development opportunities for all staff.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Professional Development Support: Lead the Department's professional development initiatives, ensuring the workforce meets mandatory training criteria and certification standards through needs analyses, job task analyses, and designing and evaluating training programs.
  • Course Design and Implementation: Establish course objectives, create comprehensive design documents, storyboards, scripts, graphics, and multimedia components for computer-based instruction, and travel to various locations to ensure proper program implementation.
  • Quality Assurance and Support: Assist with bureau-wide quality assurance tasks, support Regional Training Coordinators and field staff in delivering specialized training, and regularly review lesson plans with subject matter experts to keep content relevant.
  • Technical Assistance and Compliance: Provide technical assistance to the Florida Corrections Academy to ensure recruits receive training that meets Criminal Justice Standards, support during FDLE audits, and monitor and evaluate technology-based training programs.
  • Policy Development and Training: Assist in developing staff training plans, policies, and procedures, including New Employee Orientation, and implement training for large groups of trainers on operating within a Learning Management System.
