(Senior) Data / Robotics Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

The AI Team at Agile Robots is looking for a dedicated Data Engineer with a specialization in Robotics. You are expected to have 2 to 5 years of experience in the field, demonstrating proficiency in handling data processing pipelines for developing advanced robotic systems. This position will support our development of AI models by designing and maintaining the foundational structure around our training data. You will work with multiple sources of data including different sensors and HMI devices. Prior hands-on experience in these areas would be a significant plus.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and maintenance of data pipeline for Robot Learning and a database of training data 
• Implementing conversion and export functionality to convert data formats for common AI/DL model, e.g. LeRobot, RLDS 
• Integrating multiple different sensor types (e.g. camera, IMU, Force/Torque)  
• Work closely with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment to prototype, iterate, and deploy robotic solutions for real-world applications.   
• Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design. 

Essential Skills

• Master's degree in computer science, automation, robotics, AI, or a related field. 
• Experience in working with AI models used in robotics, e.g. diffusion, Octo, ACT 
• Usage of middleware for real-time communication, e.g. ROS2, DDS, Zenoh, ZeroMQ  
• Familiar with Python or C++, dockerisation, CI/CD 
• Experienced in OOP, synchronous and asynchronous communication  
• Strong verbal and written communication. 

Beneficial Skills

• Experience in low-level robotic control, e.g. implementation of robotic controllers on real-time systems 
• Familiarity with AI technologies is a major plus, e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow 
• Experience with TorchServe and/or TensorFlow Extended (Serving). 
• Published in eminent scientific publications in the areas of Robotics, ML, CV, etc.
