Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Freeway Support Technical Specialist to be based in Atlanta, GA.
Transportation Management Center (TMC) Freeway Support Technical Specialists are responsible for creating and updating monthly reports for HERO and CHAMP, after action reports for main events, and specialized reports; providing quality control (QC) reviews of several reports; extracting and compiling various forms of data; using software to provide innovative solutions and reports.
Highway Emergency Response Operators (HEROs) are dispatched to traffic-related incidents in metro Atlanta with the primary duty to clear roads so that normal traffic flow is restored. HEROs also assist stranded motorists with flat tires, dead batteries or in need of fuel or coolant. Learn more about HERO at https://www.dot.ga.gov/GDOT/Pages/HERO.aspx
CHAMP is Georgia DOT’s roadside assistance and maintenance program covering interstates outside of Metro Atlanta (except I-59 and I-24). This program is an integral part of our goal to provide safe and maintained roadways, support emergency responders and assist motorists outside of the HERO covered area in Metro Atlanta. Additional Job Description and Responsibilities:
- Extensive use of Microsoft Excel (specifically data output from HERO and CHAMP); importing data, writing formulas to extract/calculate specific values, exporting historical data to database
- Participate in annual HERO and CHAMP ride-alongs
- Perform quality audits and data compilation for phone and event interactions involving CHAMP
- Complete ad-hoc reports for HERO and CHAMP
- Review reports for consistency, impact, and core functionality
- Use probe data analytics software and Microsoft Power BI dashboards to complete reports
- Assist with ad-hoc initiatives as assigned by the Project Management Team with pilot testing of innovative solutions
- QC check for Microsoft Power BI dashboard calculations
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 4 Years of relevant experience or or AA/AS (US) + 6 Years of relevant experience or HS/GED + 8 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in an office environment. Position requires often performing keyboard/mouse operations and standing or sitting for long periods of time; occasionally standing/walking; rarely climbing stairs. Position may include wearing a dispatch headset, viewing CCTV camera displays, and listening to law enforcement radio broadcasts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Have three (3) or more years of working experience with Microsoft Excel
- Have one (1) or more years of experience with Microsoft Power BI
- Have one (1) or more years of experience reporting and data visualization
- Have one (1) or more years of experience with data management and dashboards
- Good written communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Works under direct supervision and independently

- NON-Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Georgia) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The Hourly rate for this position is $24.00 per hour.
