What You’ll Be Doing 

The Food Service Supervisor plans, coordinates, directs and controls, under direction of the director, all activities 

related to the food production and retail programs. Assumes authority and responsibilities during Food Service 

Director and Manager absence. 

Full Time Exempt/Non-union

Monday-Friday, Mid-shift, weekends based on operational needs

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

▪ Supervise food and nutrition team and assist with training, mentoring, scheduling, and performance 

evaluations 

▪ Oversee tray line operations, dining room service, meal delivery and retail service to ensure timely and 

high-quality service 

▪ Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, infection control practices, and 

facility policies 

▪ Monitor food, beverage, and equipment temperatures and address any variances promptly 

▪ Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, audits, and departmental documentation 

▪ Ensure proper food storage, quality control, and safe equipment operation 

▪ Support orientation and development of newly hired staff members 

▪ Participate in quality improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned 

▪ Performs all other related duties. 

What We’re Looking For 

Required:  

▪ Associate's degree required. 

▪ One to three years’ supervisory experience in hospital food and nutrition required.  

Preferred: 

▪ Ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data 

▪ Excellent interpersonal skills 

▪ High customer service and quality demeanor 

▪ Ability to work under pressure and meet established criteria 

▪ Ability to apply a participative approach to leading staff, to coordinate and prioritize tasks, and to 

develop budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements 

▪ Excellent stress management skills, administrative and organizational, and follow-through skills required 

▪ Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, 

Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 

▪ Health system or hospital background

▪ Excellent documentation and organizational skills 

▪ Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments 

▪ High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail 

▪ Effective written and verbal communication skills 

Working Conditions

• May require periodic on-site audits, meetings, or training sessions
