Job Description Summary

The Education Assistant and Receptionist at Morris Arboretum’s Adult Education Department is responsible for managing the online program registration system, including data entry, processing registrations and refunds, and assisting with program performance reporting. Collaborating with the Assistant Director, this role supports program setup and logistics. Additionally, the position handles phone inquiries about general visitor information, admissions, and event registrations, such as for the Holiday Garden Railway Nights.

The role requires effective communication with members, visitors, and students, both over the phone and in-person, and includes welcoming and guiding office guests. This shared part-time role operates on an alternating schedule of 2-3 days per week, averaging at least 17.5 hours, with occasional weekend and evening shifts.

Job Description

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Register/refund class takers and process general admission to ticketed events.

  • Answer Arboretum phone calls, forward to appropriate staff when needed.

  • Enter class information onto website, update it, and create reports on program metrics.

  • Work with the Assistant Director of Adult Education to assist with program setup and logistics.

  • Update progress/activities to Supervisor

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication, especially via telephone.

  • Strong customer service experience.

  • Comfortable with learning new software platforms, online registration systems, etc.

  • Proficient with MS Office suite of products.

  • Ability to work collaboratively.
