About the role

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced AWS Platform Engineer to join our cloud data platform team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our AWS accounts covering services like EMR, Redshift, Athena, S3 etc ensuring high performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate should have experience with AWS Services and data migration from Onprem to cloud.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform POCs on AWS services

  • Design, implement, and manage AWS Redshift clusters through Terraform IaC

  • Optimize and improve Redshift performance, scalability, and availability

  • Support User SQL queries and issues

  • Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with data governance policies

  • Monitor and troubleshoot cluster issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures

  • Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to understand business requirements and optimize data models

  • Stay up-to-date with new AWS Redshift features and best practices

  • Develop and maintain documentation of Redshift architecture, processes, and procedures

  • Hands-on experience with EMR cluster builds and necessary user support

  • Involving in defining IAM roles, policies and user onboarding for Redshift and EMR along with any other supporting cloud services

  • Able to manage Terraform code through Bitbucket and deploy through automated deployment pipelines.

  • Good agile team collaboration and able to support multiple teams as needed.

  • Strong support lifecycle knowledge working with AWS / 3rd party vendors
     

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of IT experience or equivalent leadership program experience, or in lieu of degree High School Diploma/GED and 9+ years of IT experience

  • 6+ years of experience with AWS

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling

  • Strong knowledge on AWS services Redshift, EMR, Glue, Lake formation and S3

  • Strong understanding of data security and compliance

  • Design and implement EMR / EMR Serverless services using Terraform IaC

  • Develop and maintain DR capabilities for EMR service

  • Optimize EMR & Redshift clusters for performance, cost, and security

  • Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to understand business requirements

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of data governance and quality processes

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices

  • Knowledge of security and compliance requirements for big data processing

  • Familiarity with data governance and quality principles

  • AWS well Architecture Framework (WAF) knowledge

  • Understanding on serverless services and respective benefits

  • Certification in AWS

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
