What role you will play in our team

We are looking for an experienced, commercially-savvy data scientist/computational engineer to build models that aid our goal of decarbonizing heavy industry.  As a member of our Low Carbon Solutions Data Science & Analytics team, you will work on problems in emerging technologies such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, sustainable lithium extraction, or advanced biofuels. You will be a part of a dynamic business environment where priorities often change and there are few existing roadmaps, requiring you to utilize your broad set of analytical thinking, modeling, and problem-solving skills to contribute to the team’s mission.

What you will do

  • Understand business problems in the low carbon space, build models that address those needs, and provide insights to assist with the growth of the low carbon business
  • Be involved in model creation from quick prototypes to writing more robust and performant code for more established models
  • Be responsible for selecting the right approach for the problem at hand, whether that’s a machine learning model, an event-based simulation, or a response surface from a more complex simulator
  • Serve as the “explainer” of model results, whether at a deep, technical level or by providing a high-level management summary
  • Mentor less experienced data scientists or computational engineers as needed
