A day in the life

Our Real Estate Accounting team is responsible for the external reporting of our reporting portfolios (operating, development, land and energy) and capital deployment activities for Prologis, a large multi-billion-dollar global Real Estate Investment Trust listed on the S&P 500.  As a Senior Accountant on the Real Estate Accounting team, you will be responsible for energy asset reporting globally and have responsibilities around processes to track energy assets, reconcile energy specific accounts and address ad-hoc energy asset related inquiries. In addition, this role may be involved with other areas of real estate accounting, such as supporting process improvements and other ad-hoc real estate projects. You will be given the opportunity to interact with various internal teams and should have a strong background in analytics, data analysis, great eye for detail, and a strong commitment to process improvement. The ideal candidate will be a go-getter with a doer mentality and a great attitude.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare timely and accurate accounting, analysis and global reporting of energy asset activities
  • Prepare quality energy account reconciliations
  • Record capital transactions and capitalized interest for energy (acquisitions, dispositions, and development)
  • Reconcile and report on current forecasted investment (CFI) for energy projects
  • Participate in the stabilized development review process
  • Act as a liaison between accounting and energy teams, especially related to financial data
  • Prepare and analyze supplemental, 10Q/K, and internal management reports related to your assigned financial statement areas
  • Maintain, update and improve global processes and data-driven analysis utilizing PeopleSoft, SIGMA, Excel, robotics, Tableau and other software tools
  • Assist accounting teams and other departments with ad hoc real estate related projects and requests
  • Support our internal and external auditors during audits and interim, including the coordination of requests and the flow of information and documentation
  • Promote team atmosphere and positive work environment
  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required from four-year college or university
  • Minimum of three years’ experience (public accounting or energy industry experience is a plus)
  • Demonstrate strong analytic and organizational skills in completing both routine and complex tasks
  • Understanding of systems and technology that includes proficiency with Excel and working knowledge of general ledger systems and reporting tools. PeopleSoft and SIGMA preferred. 
  • Have a strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner.  Use feedback and reflection to own self-development
  • Display a strong sense of personal accountability to identify and work within required reporting timelines
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the functional and cultural lines of a fast-paced, multinational company
  • Process improvement, organizational and project management skills
  • High level of detail orientation and accuracy
  • Extensive working knowledge of U.S. GAAP

Hiring Salary Range of $88,000 - $109,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
