What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Patient Care Coordinator. The Patient Care Coordinator will serve as a liaison between patients and their families and the NIDDK. The individual will collate and maintain patient medical records including a master list of patients, schedule patient visits and medical tests, enter data from and into the laboratory information system spreadsheets and/or database, and assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation and reports. The role will work with staff to prepare and maintain weekly schedules for IETP clinical care providers for the outpatient clinic and outpatient consultations and assist in preparing and maintaining weekly clinic conference schedules. This is a full-time onsite position supporting the NIH office in Bethesda, MD.

  • Coordinate patient schedules with testers, nurses, physicians and clinical research coordinators.

  • Work with staff to coordinate new research patient screening appointments, procedures and imaging studies between protocol investigators and the outpatient clinic scheduling personnel.

  • Respond to patient emails and phone calls; prioritize patient related issues into urgent, emergent and routine; triage the issues to the appropriate personnel in the team as necessary.

  • Develop training materials, job aids and instructions for use by patient coordinators.

  • Perform Quality Assurance reviews on credentialing records.

  • Serve as a point of contact for questions, advice and communications on the process and status of protocols; initiate and respond to correspondence and telephone contacts pertaining to admission of patients.

  • Work with staff on QA/QC of the clinical and research records for patients on study prior to audits.

  • Review incoming patient referrals and contact referring physician’s office if referral is incomplete.

  • Obtain outside medical records, radiology studies, biopsy slides and submit to the respective departments at the NIH.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR Associate’s Degree plus TWO (2) years of related experience is equivalent to a Bachelor’s.

  • A minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in General Medical, Health Services, Hospital Setting, Clinical operations, and/or related science experience.   

  • Experience with working on Institutional Review Board (IRB) documents and tasks

  • Able to maintain client communication regarding data management project status and review key project questions with clients.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Previous experience with the National Institute of Health (NIH) helpful.

  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $56,000.00-$94,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
