Part-Time EMT-Basic

We are looking for EMT-Basic to be part of our team of healthcare professionals providing services on base at Fort Johnson (formerly Fort Polk) ,LA . The job isn’t simple but it is very rewarding. As an employee dealing mostly with transports you must be committed and focused. To be effective in the job, the ideal candidate must be very competent and knowledgeable as well as self-motivated and compassionate. The goal is simply to contribute the best you can to help people in need and save lives.

Compensation:

·Rate: $19.43/hour

· Health & Welfare: $4.57/ hour

· Total (Rate + H&W): $24.00/hour

Schedule is as follows:

· Two 24 hours back to back the first week

· Second Week: One 24 hour shift and either a 12 or 18 hour shift and one on-call shift

Responsibilities:

• Transport injured or sick individuals to medical facilities
• Operate ambulance equipment and respond to radio transmissions
• Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures
• Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards

Skills

• Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology and medications
• Ability to stay calm and make the right decisions in adverse conditions
• Excellent working knowledge of medical equipment and devices
• Integrity and compassion towards human pain
• BLS
• State EMT Certification
• NREMT
