About the role

Description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Division of Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking an outstanding pediatrician for a faculty position for our Foster Care Medical Home Program at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health Dallas.

The pediatrician would join the Foster Care Medical Home Team within the Rees-Jones Center for Foster Care Excellence.  We are especially interested in applicants with interests and/or experience in providing primary care for children with special health care needs and/or complex conditions.  As a Foster Care Pediatrician, the individual will provide primary care for children and youth who are currently or were previously in custody of the Texas Child Protective Services due to child abuse or neglect.

The Rees-Jones Center for Foster Care Excellence core programs include integrated clinical care, academic scholarly work, and community systems development, which aim to improve every child’s well-being while she/he is in foster care. The Center brings together professionals in child welfare, research, advocacy, and pediatric medicine to support children in foster care into a lifelong path of healing and hope. Services include comprehensive medical, developmental, and mental health care tailored treatment plans, caregiver education and support, and health care transition services before and after exiting foster care.

Faculty can expect a well-balanced career in teaching and clinical medicine, with opportunities for research and clinical leadership in foster care. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Special consideration will be given to those pediatricians with prior training in General Academic Pediatrics and/or MPH and those pediatricians with experience working with populations of children with complex medical/social challenges.

Qualifications

Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas and board eligible or certified in Pediatrics.
