The Opportunity LeoLabs is seeking talented individuals to join our Measurements & Tracking team as a Senior Software Engineer. The Measurements & Tracking team focuses on LeoLabs’ primary data pipeline and is responsible for ingesting measurements from the radars, transforming the data to enrich it and making it available for not only other parts of the system but also customers.As a part of our team, you will make significant contributions to both the developer experience and the customer experience for the LeoLabs Platform. You will explore and incorporate new technologies to help scaling the data pipeline to handle more radar sources. You will be responsible for not only the technical evolution of our platform but also measuring its performance, creating dashboards to keep track of data quality and more. 

Qualifications● B.S., M.S in Computer Science or equivalent experience● 6+ years experience with Python, Java, Go or other high level languages in a SaaS platform● Experience designing, building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines● Experience with architecting and scaling fullstack or distributed backend systems● Experience with cloud environments like AWS/GCP/Azure● Experience with cloud deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes, Docker containers● Experience with databases like Postgres/MySQL● Deep understanding of good software development practices, agile practices, security, documentation and observability● Worked with event driven systems, queuing mechanism● Working experience with micro services● Ability to work on-call outside of normal business hours during critical escalations
Preferred qualifications● Experience working with RESTful web services● Working experience with Kafka● Experience in agile and test-driven development methodologies● Helpful to have some background in Math/Physics or Orbital mechanics
Within 3 months, you’ll:● Be involved in the transition of the system to micro services on EKS● Will be integrated in the Measurements & Tracking team● Have learned how the team operates
Within 6 months, you’ll:● Have contributed to the transition of the system from ECS to EKS● Own the team’s system testing – an integral part of the data processing pipeline responsible for mapping measurements to tracked objects – enabling the team to do rapid algorithm testing and deployment
Within 12 months, you’ll:● Have created an automated system allowing us to deploy faster and safer● Have helped shape the software engineering culture at Leolabs● Have helped the software engineering team scale the backend platform
Salary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location. The base salary range for this position $175,000 - 220,000
