Organizational Summary:
Girls on the Run Michiana offers an 8-week, twice-weekly after-school program from mid-March through mid-May that utilizes games, activities, and small group conversations to provide girls with the confidence to believe in themselves, practice resilience, and use their voices to stand up for themselves and others. Girls on the Run Michiana is an independent 501(c)(3) organization, one of over 160 independent Girls on the Run councils across the U.S. and Canada.  Our territory includes St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, Fulton, and Kosciusko counties in northcentral Indiana. We serve over 1,000 girls at over 65 schools each spring. 

Position Summary:
The Girls on the Run Michiana Program Manager – St. Joseph/Marshall/Fulton Couties is a part-time, flexible, 80% remote position averaging 23-24 hours/week from mid-August through mid-June. The work fluctuates by season with an estimated average of 20 hrs/week from mid-August through late December and an estimated average of 25 hours/week from January through mid-June. The Program Manager may choose to work some of these hours during summer months if so desired. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Executive Director. The Program Manager works most closely with the Executive Director and the Program Manager for Elkhart County, as well as with team members who support marketing and fundraising. 

Key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Program Strategy and Leadership
  • Implement the Girls on the Run strategic program plan to achieve goals regarding program quality and number of girls served*
  • Maintain accountability and ownership of program success in collaboration and coordination with ED and staff*
  • Collaborate with Communications Manager to create impactful messaging (weekly 411’s, 5K messaging, and social media) to maintain program quality and growth goals* 
  • Collaborate with ED on annual coach and parent/caregiver evaluations*
  • Update school/site data within territory to ensure accurate data regarding territory saturation
  • Provide territory data as needed for reports and goal tracking

Site and Coach Relationship Building, Training, and Management 
  • Site Recruitment and Liaison Onboarding (late summer/fall/early winter)
    • Create Pinwheel event registrations for new and returning sites*
    • Identify lapsed and unserved sites in territory and implement strategies to raise awareness (e.g., present to PTO/community service organizations, meet with school counselors)
    • Respond to program inquiries in territory, cultivating interest and sharing information to bring new or lapsed sites to fruition
    • Onboard new GOTR liaisons/sites via visits to schools and/or small group liaison trainings*
    • Provide 1:1 and group support to liaisons in territory to recruit coaches in alignment with GOTRM policies
  • Pre-season liaison support (late fall/winter)
    • Support liaisons in territory through the girl registration process, providing participant recruitment materials, guidance, and support
    • Monitor and move teams from waitlist to open and add additional teams as needed
    • Express gratitude to liaisons and ensure sustainability through succession planning 
  •  Coach Training and Support (winter and spring)
    • Manage online registration for new and returning coaches in territory, processing applications and background checks 
    • Serve as an expert in the GOTR Learning Academy (GLA) and manage online training for new and returning coaches*
    • Ensure identified coaches in territory maintain needed safety training (CPR, etc.)
    • Manage content for regular e-news communication to coaches/liaisons September – May *
    • Prepare and co-lead delivery of in-person coach trainings, presenting a structured training to small and large groups (typically 4 new coach trainings and 2 returning trainings) *
    • Prepare and co-lead mid-season training for coaches (April)* 
    • Build personal relationships with coaches in territory; respond promptly to coach outreach
Program Participant Registration and Management
  • Set up and manage online registration platform/processes for program participants/families ensuring clarity and accurate func
