The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) cares for post-surgical patients recovering from anesthesia. Focusing on collaboration, this team prides themselves on providing top-quality and patient-centered attention and support. As RN in this department, you will use your nursing skills to enhance treatments and facilitate a welcoming, healing environment for patients. You can also benefit from a PeriAnesthesia Essentials Class for new caregivers, PeriAnesthesia Nursing Certification and Nursing Grand Rounds attendance.  

A caregiver in this position works days | 11:00am—11:30pm | call rotation per 6 week schedule: 1 day of 24-hour call on a Sat/Sun, 2 weekday nights (11:00pm-7:00am), 3 late shifts. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.  

  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.  

  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).  

  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk 

  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.  

  • Document in patients’ medical records.
