Description
FT - RN - Nights (Float)
Principal role, relationships, and results expected of this position. The RN will typically work as a charge nurse if not assuming a supervisory role. As a charge nurse they take on a key role in providing a productive work environment, quality resident care, and front-line leadership. Reporting to the nursing supervisor, the charge nurse maintains unit morale and ensures daily compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations. Will serve as the Back-up Supervisor when needed and will receive a differential when this takes place.
Unit Leadership
1.Responsible for the unit morale by providing a team based work environment through effective team leadership and a demonstrated positive attitude.
2.Assumes a lead role in employee related issues such as discipline, performance evaluations, retention, and development of qualified personnel.
3.Works with the Nursing Supervisor to ensure compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations that govern the long-term care industry.
4.Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental and cross-functional personnel.
5.Facilitates unit communications by conducting regular meetings with staff personnel designed to identify and correct problem areas and/or the improvement of services.
6.Responsible for the training and skills assessment of assigned nursing personnel. Ensures all unit members are knowledgeable and compliant with resident’s rights and responsibilities.
Nursing Duties
1.Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
2.Participates in preliminary resident needs assessments and in the development of a written plan of care.
3.Performs daily resident visits to assess and evaluate resident status changes and nursing needs.
4.Completes nursing documentation, medical forms, evaluations, and accident/incident reports in a timely manner.
5.Administers medications and performs treatments as directed by the attending physician or nursing supervisor.
6.Accountable for the proper maintenance of written procedures outlining the administration, storage, and control of medications and medical supplies.
7.Consults the nursing supervisor and/or attending physician in the planning, treatment, and rehabilitation of assigned residents. Ensures proper notification of appropriate personnel when a change in the resident’s condition occurs.
8.Remains current of applicable regulations and procedures by professional publications and attending applicable seminars.
9. Administer I.V. fluids, medications or Total Parenteral Nutrition as ordered by M.D
10. Will Float to the different units as needed.
11. Will be the back-up Supervisor when needed.
Requirements
REQUIRED
•Completion of RN program from an accredited school of Nursing.
•Possess a current RN license in the State of Ohio.
PREFERRED
•ASN/BSN degree
•Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Federal regulations and Ohio State regulations.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•Strong leadership skills.
•Two years of experience in long term care preferred.
