JOB SUMMARY:
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to play a critical role in the success of BioCryst’s global accounting organization. Reporting to the Director, Global Revenue Accounting, responsibilities will include monthly close activities, such as recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations; preparation and organization of SOX controls; completion of monthly and quarterly analyses; and other ad hoc responsibilities in all areas of global revenue.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare month end-close including preparation of gross to net accruals and related journal entries, and reconciliations in a timely and accurate fashion to support US and global revenue recognition.
- Hold monthly and quarterly meetings with country managers to understand changes in local markets and/or contracts, obtain and organize appropriate documentation, and analyze impacts to revenue.
- Assist with preparation of monthly variance analysis for US and international entities.
- Review and approve invoices received for accuracy and analysis of gross to net accrual balances.
- Complete quarterly analyses such as bad debt, returns reserve, and review of various country arrangements.
- Assist in process improvement and development of new procedures to maximize productivity and minimize inefficiency to enhance the monthly revenue close process.
- Assist with Technical Accounting Memos related to ASC 606.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly controls documentation ensuring it is well-organized and compliant with SOX and IPE procedures.
- Coordinate with external auditors on audit requests as needed.
- Perform ad-hoc work as needed.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, finance or related field with 5+ years experience in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
- Experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm required
- Experience with SOX 404 compliance required
- Direct experience with ASC 606 for a publicly traded company required; life sciences company strongly preferred
- Excellent general accounting skills required and knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly communicate
- Experience with Oracle a plus
- Must be highly disciplined, results-oriented, and self-motivated
- Strong organization skills. Ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
