Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption.  Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.

Job Description

The Admitting Department is operational 24/7, 365 days a year, and plays a significant role, working with almost every department or unit in the center. We are responsible for acquiring complete and accurate patient information during the inpatient admission process and collect insurance forms, signatures, and payments. We interact with patients, family, clients, and MSK employees who depend on the high quality, accuracy, and timeliness of their work. We help coordinate appointment times with OR Schedulers and provide vital information to patients prior to their visit.

 

We are looking for a Senior Admissions Representative to serve a key role in several high functioning areas. Are you passionate about our mission and supporting our leaders? We want you to join us!

 

You Will:

• Provide support to Bedboard Coordinators, addressing requests for admissions, alerts, external transfers, and appropriate bed assignments using the electronic bed board.
• Supervise patient flow and bed status to contribute to the efficiency of all admissions
• Participate in the delivery of training for new employees
• Collect deposits for private rooms and payments as it relates to patient financial services
• Assist clinicians with completing the N.Y.S. death certificate and related consents
• Thoroughly explain inpatient admission documents and procedures to acquire the required signatures
• Prepare and review charts for inpatient and surgical cases
• Work closely with management on projects to help drive process improvement within the department

You Are:

• An effective communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding
• Adept at creating partnerships and working to meet shared objectives and goals
• Willing to take action and eager to accept new opportunities and tough challenges with high energy, and passion

You Have:

• 1-2 years of proven experience in a healthcare setting, familiarity with medical terminology, and digital literacy
• Excellent attention to detail, good written, and verbal communication skills
• Courtesy and understanding needed to meet the needs of our patient population

12-hour shifts, 7 PM – 7 AM. Alternating days and weekends with the flexibility to work day-shifts as needed
