Seasonal Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Seasonal  Per Diem Agreement Requirements: 

• Individual will work a 8 or 13-week seasonal assignment. 
• Individual is required to work 3, 12 hour scheduled shifts per week. 
• Must have 1+ years as an RN in L&D.

*Shift: 6:45a – 7:15p

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Unit Director, Clinical Manager and Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse (R.N.) independently provides holistic, individualized care using the Nursing Process for patients routinely seen on the unit. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, Nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills. Contributes to the Sierra View Medical Center Department of Patient Care Services and the Nursing profession in a positive manner.

Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Must have and maintain ACLS certification or obtain within six (6) months of assignment to department. Must have and maintain NRP, EFM or obtain within 6 months of assignment to department. Six (6) month time frame is at the discretion of the Department Director.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Must have and maintain current BLS Card, required. Must have and maintain ACLS certification prior to assignment to department. Must have and maintain NRP & EFM.
