Examples of duties
This position focuses on maintaining and repairing vehicles and power equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation throughout the facility. As a Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Vehicle Repair: Perform major and minor repairs on cars, trucks, and related equipment
- Inspection Work: Maintain a valid inspection license and check vehicles for compliance with inspection standards
- Equipment Maintenance: Repair transmissions, brakes, clutches, and other automotive components
- Fleet Upkeep: Overhaul vehicles, generators, and compressors as needed
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate service records for each vehicle
- Emergency Support: Respond to urgent equipment needs, especially during winter weather

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a current and valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- You must be in possession of a valid Class 1 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
