Office of Regulatory Relations – Standards and Core Functions
The Office of Regulatory Relations coordinates engagements with the firm’s regulators. The office also drives strategic transformations across Goldman Sachs to strengthen regulatory engagement practices and provide central oversight of regulatory implementation. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wants to join a team that will work together to protect the firm, provide effective challenge and be an agent of change.
The Standards and Core Functions team will specifically be responsible for the following areas:
- Define and maintain enterprise policies, standards, and procedures for regulatory engagement processes across the engagement lifecycle (e.g., Exam, Response, Remediation)
- Maintain central oversight and communication of regulatory engagements across Goldman Sachs (e.g., including exams, reviews)
- Conduct and socialize thematic analyses of regulatory interactions across divisions and exams
- Deliver regular communications to c-suite level audiences and the Board of Directors, including regular program reporting, governance forums, and preparation for regulatory engagements
- Engage with Senior Management across all divisions, helping to coordinate and prepare for regulator engagements
- Manage both internal and external relationships with senior stakeholders to foster productive, open communication and collaboration
- Advise the business on how to communicate core challenges to the regulators and in evolving their strategy to address regulatory priorities
- Develop and operationalize program level metrics, including incentive compensation / performance management
- Develop shared reporting standards and technology solutions to track regulatory interactions globally and across regulators
- Manage and supervise the internal controls for distribution of CSI
Qualifications
- 6-15 years experience in regulatory relations, regulatory supervision, or in a role requiring deep regulatory understanding
- Broad understanding of relevant banking regulation and supervisory expectations for complex global financial institutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of managing senior client or other stakeholders at peer institution
- Strong writing skills for regulatory and senior management audiences, including ability to capture and synthesize key takeaways from multiple businesses and functions
- Comfortable being independent and a self-starter
