Department Description

Drug Product Development (DPD - part of the wider Medicine Development and Supply organization) is a highly experienced Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) organization accountable for delivering robust, cost effective and competitive products and manufacturing processes spanning the full life-cycle of asset development from discovery through commercialization. These activities are delivered through state-of-the-art internal facilities as well as strategic external partners. Collectively, the team is accountable for CMC activities encompassing small molecule, oligonucleotide and biopharm drug product/ device development and packaging. We also pioneer innovative technologies to improve robustness, reduce cost of goods, and improve the patient experience.

Job Description

• Work as a Process Engineering Co-op in a multi-disciplinary Process Engineering and Analytics team in DPD, liaising efficiently with Process Engineers, Formulators, Materials Scientists, Modelers, Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Scientists, automation experts and data scientists, to deliver the work packages required to develop mechanistic understanding in drug product unit operations (example, particulate filtration, sterile filtration, lyophilization, mixing, filling).
• Conduct research work in a state-of-art GSK Steriles laboratory in the field of Steriles Process Engineering and can be stretched to the collaborative areas of PAT, modeling, Materials Science and others.
• Assist in designing the experiment plan, perform the experiment plan, and finally collate the experimental results into a research report for all the projects accomplished during Co-op tenure.
• Actively participate in team meetings, project meetings, share work updates to team members on regular basis.
• Together, advance understanding and improve current ways of working in Process development areas (linked to Materials Science, Formulation, modeling, PAT, others).

Minimum Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree (Final year Bachelor's, Masters or PhD) in Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or other relevant science field.
• Lab experience through either a college course or a prior job.
• Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6-month co-op (June ~ December 2025).
• Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with steriles process development – e.g., filtration, mixing, filling, lyophilization,
• Experience leading a multi experiment project resulting in valuable learnings
• Experience generating/employing models from data sets or experience with data analytic software
