SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSE: The Optical Team Members fills ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions as ordered by an ophthalmologist or optometrist, fits and adapts lenses and frames while providing high quality patient care by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provides excellent customer service and understands priority of workflow.
- Assists customers with eyewear and accessory selection.
- Verifies, understands, and explains to patients their insurance benefits related to vision hardware.
- Enters, receives, and dispenses eyeglasses and accessories orders in optical software.
- Performs minor repairs including, but not limited to, adjusting eyewear to ensure proper fit.
- Assists in ordering customer frames and follows up on delayed orders.
- Verifies accurate completion of orders, including lensometry.
- Assists with maintaining frame and accessory inventory by communicating with manager when supplies need reordering.
- Helps to maintain a clean and organized optical area.
- Works in conjunction with the billing department and reception desk to assist in patient care. This position may also assist with annual inventory.
- Required to travel to other Spokane Optical Company locations based on business need.
- Meets sells guidelines established by management.
- Instructs customers in adapting to, wearing, and caring for eyeglasses.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of experience in dispensing eyeglasses
- One (1) year of experience using optical software
- Ability to travel to different company locations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Certification
