Surgical Technologist Lead

The renowned Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist Lead to join the OR team in a full-time capacity. This Operating Room consists of 11 rooms that provide a wide spectrum of surgical services.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Surgical Technologist Lead acts as a clinical leader and resource in an Inova Operating Room (OR). 
• Supports Inova's mission and strategic plans. 
• Assists OR Service Leader to ensures unit compliance with quality, safety, regulatory requirements, and JCAHO standards. Demonstrates superior knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques in the role of surgical technologist. 
• Assists the OR Service Leader as a primary resource for the surgical specialty.
• Assists the OR Service Leader in analyzing data, ensuring team adherence to performance standards, and improving processes continuously. 
• Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. 
• Provides mentoring to OR team. 
• Works collaboratively and has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines. 
• Uses and demonstrates clinical expertise in the assessment of staff learning needs, capabilities, and readiness. 
• Demonstrates leadership traits and supporting behavioral competencies. 
• Serves as primary liaison and information resource for specialty. 
• Oversees the provision of therapeutic care in a holistic, evidence-based environment which produces excellent patient care with optimal patient outcomes. 
• Supports the OR Service Leader's goals. 
• Interacts with and contributes to the professional growth of Surgical Technologist team members, colleagues, and others.
•  Ensures efficient functioning of the specialty service and achievement of optimal patient outcomes.

 

Position Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program. 
• 3 years’ experience as a Surgical Technologist
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) via NCCT 
• BLS via AHA required
• Surgical Technologist registration required 
• Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
