The Department of Economic Security, Office of Inspector General (OIG) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an Auditor 3. The Auditor 3 position is responsible for conducting highly complex audits of programs for compliance, fiscal, and provider audits. Performs audits in a professional manner and in accordance with the approved audit program. This includes preparation of audit programs and work papers, conducting fieldwork, identify findings and advises on requirements, liabilities and penalties of compliance and noncompliance. May perform in a lead capacity on projects or special assignments. Works under limited supervision. May provide testimony at formal or informal hearings.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the department's needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Schedule, plan and conduct required audits, reviewing required accounting records or other business documents, evaluating financial controls, identifying deficiencies, advising on compliance with established requirements or standards, and preparing audit reports and supporting documents.
• Develops audit scopes, objectives and procedures in accordance with government auditing standards (GAS). Examines financial records of state and local government and private contractors participating in state and federally funded programs; Examines vouchers, checks, invoices, payroll, time sheets, equipment, budgets, and other financial documents for validity and correctness in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Obtains, analyzes, approves and appraises evidential data as a basis for an informed, objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system and the efficiency of performance of the activities being reviewed. Appraises the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve deficient conditions. Sample selection and testing.
• Examines and analyzes reports, statistical data, correspondence, and other materials relating to project/audit as a basis for program evaluation. Compares data from various sources to determine compliance with technical specifications, rules, or other technical documents, using judgment and relying upon considerable knowledge of the subject materials.
• Develops findings and recommendations; develops spreadsheets, graphics, etc., to demonstrate basis for recommendations. Prepares formal written audit reports, outlines, drafts and finalizes, expressing opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system and the efficiency with which activities are carried out. Analyzes and evaluates work procedures, methods and rules for a work unit.
