This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: The Madison Club, set in of La Quinta, California.

The Madison Club seeks a Retail Sale Associate to join the Retail Department.

The primary objective of the Retail Sales Associate is to initiate excellent customer service while participating in daily shop operations, including sales, merchandising, receiving, and inventory management. This position also serves as a liaison between the Merchandiser and daily operations by developing rapport with customers, monitoring sell-through to better understand retail needs, and reporting feedback regularly. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities Merchandising and Customer Service:                                                                                                        

  • Drive sales by building member relationships and maintaining knowledge of the store's brands and current fashion trends in the region.
  • Assist and service members and their guests with all retail purchases, returns and special orders.
  • Work directly with the Merchandiser on guidance for merchandising and rotating displays on a regular basis
  • Assist Merchandiser in managing the receipt flow process of merchandise purchases through POS and On-Order maintenance and floor rotation policies
  • Ensure company packaging standards are upheld and implement special touches like gift wrap, thank-you notes, etc.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed for all POS transactions, including markdowns and employee discounts.
  • Monitor and drive sales to meet monthly revenue budgets through promotion and customer service, receipt flow management, floor rotations, retail events, etc.

Inventory Control:

  •    Follow monthly physical inventory procedures under the supervision of the Retail Merchandiser
  • Monitor best sellers and core stock items regularly and communicate immediate inventory needs to Retail Merchandisers
  • Follow company standards and procedures with regard to discounts and employee purchases.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist Merchandiser as requested with any special requests relating to retail.
  • Monitor levels of all retail supplies: packaging, tagging supplies, etc. and communicate to the Retail Merchandiser when running low on supplies

Specialized Knowledge:

1-3 years of retail operations and customer service experience, basic knowledge of the boutique/specialty retail industry related to hospitality and private club environments, excellent communication skills and ability to sell and create rapport with customers.

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than 45lbs.
