patients/customers of Ohio County Healthcare and surrounding areas needing this service.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The usual workplace is a well-ventilated area. Requires standing, walking, turning,

bending, stooping, and lifting patients. Fine and gross motor skills. The environment may be stressful at times,

therefore the ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens

at times in patient care. May have occasional exposure to dangerous chemicals (cleaning and disinfecting

agents

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs quality laboratory testing by monitoring testing equipment and systems for acceptable analytical

performance. Provides directions for non-certified staff performing waived testing. Ensures corrective actions

are taken prior to patient test results being reported. Provides orientation and training of testing personnel

responsible for test performance, reporting of test result, and for instrument maintenance and calibration of

test systems at defined intervals. Follow the laboratory procedure for specimen handling, processing, and

testing. Performs proficiency testing specimens as assigned. Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies,

document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.

Follow laboratory policy and procedures when test systems are not within the lab’s acceptable level of

performance. All other duties as assigned by Lab Manager, Lab Quality Supervisor, or Laboratory Supervisor.

Must identify problems that may adversely affect test results and either must correct the problems immediately

or notify the Lab Manager. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the lab’s

established performance specifications. Responsible for assuring that services are provided in a manner that is

consistent with Ohio County Healthcare policies and procedures and the purpose, vision, and values. The job

Additionally, responsible for user training on the LIS, effectively communicates issues between lab and IT, works with IT for troubleshooting issues affecting the lab and programs laboratory information system application development and support including the integration of new technologies and service goals with laboratory processes.
