Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced US Tax & Compliance Manager, responsible for overseeing the company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting processes. This role ensures that the organization adheres to all relevant tax laws and regulations, minimizes tax liabilities, and manages tax risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in US federal, state taxes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various department.

Specifically, the Tax & Compliance Manager will:

  • Work with our tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns. Maintain compliance with all tax regulations and laws.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax positions. Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions.
  • Coordinate and manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities. Prepare necessary documentation and responses.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of tax-related information.
  • Ensure differences between accounting and taxable profit are explained and understood.
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks. Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Provide tax advice and support to internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and operations teams.
  • Continuously improve tax processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Engagement with Group Finance in the UK.
  • Undertake a mix of recurring monthly/quarterly tasks in addition to one-off projects as required.
  • Adhering to our accounting manual and working in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Act in line with our behavioral values.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Qualifications

*A minimum of three days working out of the NYC office is required.

  • 5-7 years’ experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree.
  • Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working in a professional services or consulting environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 accounting software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Additional Information

The salary range for this full-time role is $130K-$150K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package.  Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
