Position description:
The Genetic Toxicology group within Nonclinical Drug Safety is seeking an experienced laboratory scientist with expertise in tissue culture, high content data acquisition (flow cytometery/image analysis) and molecular biology techniques associated with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) such as DNA/RNA extraction and library preparation (fragmentation, adapter ligation) for high-throughput, error corrected sequencing.
The primary role of this position is to conduct experiments that enable cellular and chromosome/DNA damage screening in mammalian cell systems for the purpose of genetic toxicology risk assessment and risk management.
The individual in this position will be expected to work collaboratively across many disciplines and utilize resources and expertise available across our Company to grow expertise and apply new tools. This role includes designing and executing experiments, maintaining meticulous experimental records in an electronic notebook, summarizing data and communicating results. Additionally, this role includes engaging with the genetic toxicology field externally to stay informed on the latest testing strategies and approaches (e.g. attending Genetic Toxicology meetings and presenting research).
Position qualifications
Masters Degree in Molecular Biology or related field with at least 3 years post graduate experience or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years relevant experience.
Required Experience and Skills
Expertise in tissue culture and molecular biology techniques associated with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), experience with error corrected NGS preferred.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Experience with in vitro genetic toxicology endpoints such as micronucleus, mammalian mutation, biomarkers of genotoxicity etc, is a plus.
Experience with flow cytometry and/or high content image analysis a plus.
