Hourly Rate: $45.41 - $49.76

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, operates and maintains a gasoline powered pavement saw and tank truck used in cutting pavement prior to or during excavation operations. Also operates trenching equipment, pipe handling equipment, loads and tows trailers for moving this equipment and materials.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs all work in the Street Technician "B" classification and in addition:
• Using boom attachment on boom trucks, lifts and loads pipe and other materials onto trucks and trailers and off trucks and trailers. Lowers pipe into trenches.
• Hooks up trailers and tests operation of brakes and lights.
• Loads and moves equipment to and from work locations using trucks and trailers.
• Using pavement saw, scores main, service, and other excavations.
• Digging, leveling and backfilling excavations to install mains and services utilizing trenching equipment.
• When called upon, will perform street work and drive Street Department vehicles.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Must have all the qualifications of Street Technician B and in addition:

• Demonstrate an ability to satisfactorily perform the duties of Street Technician "B" in a neat, competent, and workmanlike manner.
• Prove competent in the operation of Street Department vehicles and possess the appropriate Connecticut driver's license.
• Satisfactorily completes the training program for this job.
