Department Overview

The Underground Program organization is working to reduce wildfire risk every day as we underground 10,000 miles of distribution lines. We are responsible for working across all internal teams and engaging external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, to support successfully meeting our goals and reducing wildfire risk in our hometowns. We work in an exciting and fast-paced environment. 

 

Position Summary

Regulatory analysts work with internal and external partners to identify state, federal, or international regulatory issues and propose and execute strategies which position PG&E to comply with laws and regulations, receive full cost recovery, and strengthen and enhance its programs. 

 

This position is a key contributor to the strategic development, writing, and submission of all Underground-related regulatory filings, including but not limited to the Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP), General Rate Case (GRC), Rist Assessment and Safety Mitigation Phase (RAMP), Wildfire Mitigation and Catastrophic Events (WMCE) and SB 884 10-Year Underground Plan. The position works with partner organizations within PG&E to develop the integrated regulatory policy and strategy across all related proceedings to support successful program implementation. This position is responsible for identifying and regularly tracking commitments and compliance requirements for the undergrounding program. This position will also support the planning and ongoing review meetings with senior executives, stakeholder outreach, communication plan oversight, and implementation of resulting regulatory decisions.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business need (1-2 days in Oakland).

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $140,000
Bay Maximum: $238,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 
 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Works closely with leaders to develop and implement an integrated regulatory policy strategy for system hardening and undergrounding programs. Develops regulatory case plan and manages the regulatory strategy and process from case development to implementation of resulting regulatory decisions.
  • Key contributor to the initial case assessment and development to ensure Company objectives are met for the 10-year undergrounding plan. Participates in assessment for potential settlement of a regulatory case, including strategy and internal communications to seek appropriate levels of internal approvals. 
  • Maintains compliance and commitment database to ensures program has complied with assigned decisions and financial reporting requirements.
  • Acts as a regulatory subject matter expert and applies extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Considers the impact of case developments on the program and the company as a whole. Provides insight into implications and makes recommendations of possible courses of action relating to case comments and/or proposed decisions. Recommends changes in case strategy resulting from anticipated or unanticipated decisions, developments, comments.
  • Evaluates financial, strategic or policy impact of key regulatory proceedings, pleadings, and decisions, including WMP, GRC and 10-year undergrounding plan.
  • Coordinates responses, including review of accurate and timely information or reports to regulatory agencies, including responses to data requests for the undergrounding program.
  • Evaluates and understands significant financial, strategic or policy impact of key regulatory proposals, pleadings, and decisions. Prepares and delivers summaries and recommendations to leadership.
