As a Software Project Manager for the Low-Level Software organization, you will partner with Product Management, Hardware, Mechanical, Testing and other Software teams to define and manage a prioritized body of work that your development team will deliver. Your team will work on the introduction and maintenance of new Hardware platforms, to compete on the Campus and Data Center Networking industry. You will ensure your team is completing not just the development but assisting in requirement definition, design, documentation and automated test development.


Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Manages a team of 8 to 12 direct reports, ranging from junior to senior software developers. You will work with a Software Architect with technical responsibility for your team’s feature area. Typically reports to a Director of Software.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing software to enable new Hardware Products, or new features for existing hardware. Coordinates projects for systems software, including operating systems, kernel, BIOS, networking features, utilities, CPLD/FPGA and PCIe.
  • Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
  • Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities.
  • Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.

Education and Experience Required:

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical degree.
  • May have advanced university degree.
  • 5 or more years of software development experience with a minimum of 2 years in SW development field.
  • Minimum 2 years C or C++ development experience.
  • Prior management or leadership experience.
