The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as the Senior Procurement Officer in the Procurement and Contract Management Division.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Current Pharmacist's license issued by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Graduate of accredited college/university School of Pharmacy. This position serves as chief administrative officer for the DMAS Pharmacy Program. and performs advanced (seniorlevel) managerial consultative and technical work related to the prescription drug programs for Medicaid and the Children's' Health Insurance Program (CHIP). This position is responsible for administration of the Virginia Medicaid Pharmacy Program including the Preferred Drug List, Drug Utilization Review (DUR), Pharmacy Benefit Manager Services, Common Core Formulary and DMAS pharmacy policy. Additionally, this position provides leadership to DMAS programs, so they operate within federal and state regulations, policies and procedures with regards to the Medicaid Pharmacy benefit. Work involves planning, developing and implementing policies and procedures for prescription drug programs consistent with federal and state laws and regulations; overseeing and conducting analysis of complex pharmaceutical policy issues; and directing the management of the Preferred Drug List program, Medicaid Drug Rebate program and Drug Utilization Review Board (which helps ensure appropriate clinical use of medications in the outpatient setting).

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Knowledge of the health care industry principles and practices.

Knowledge/Experience of technical/system aspects of the position.

Experience in Drug Utilization Review and Drug Formulary/Preferred Drug List Programs.

Experience in consulting/contract oversight of health care organization.

Knowledge of systems/programs/computer software.

Experience interpretation and application of federal, state laws/regulations.

Experience in meeting deadlines.

Experience with internal/external stakeholders to include health care provider groups, other state agencies, consultants, and contractors.

Experience in leading, guiding, and directing the work of others.
