Position Overview

The Corrections Maintenance Craftsman position, located at the Taylorville Correctional Center will be an integral part of the maintenance team performing journey level maintenance and repair at the facility. The primary role of the Corrections Maintenance Craftsman is to inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair and will troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs. Essential Functions

• Performs maintenance work at journeyman level in repair of facility buildings, equipment and machinery.
• Monitors individuals in custody in performing basic maintenance duties on facility buildings and equipment.
• Maintains stock of materials and supplies according to policies and procedures.
• Maintains daily count and checking system for tools used in craft according to policies and
  Procedures.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
• Requires experience necessary to qualify as a journeyman in one of the maintenance or automotive repair trades.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience performing journeyman-level maintenance work on facility buildings, equipment, and machinery.
