Job Description

Our Senior Engineering Manager will play a key role in the development and delivery of our flagship cloud product. This role will collaborate daily with other group leaders, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, our operations, support and other engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a mix of software development and automation, cloud experience and security principles, and be a knowledgeable, hands-on, collaborative, and energetic individual.

This individual will join forces with our Boston Technology and Product Strategy teams at our Analytics and Data Science Center located in Assembly Row – Somerville, MA. The candidate will be required to go into the office as our teams work on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, manage and mentor a highly skilled, talented, geographically distributed team of Software Developers, Testers and UI designers.
  • Partner effectively with Product Management, Project Management and other groups to manage scope and deliverables based on the product roadmap.
  • Understand and practice agile/lean work management.
  • Champion a collaborative development approach which encourages and accepts contributions, emphasizes transparency and values respect.
  • Scales themselves by delegating effectively, ensuring tasks are completed as specified.
  • Focused on and responsible for the team's productivity and collective impact.
  • Track team efficiency and quality of work product, and regularly adjust processes and timelines to ensure that high quality is maintained, and predictability is high.
  • Excel at getting the team to focus on the highest priority projects.
  • Ensure a healthy pipeline of refined stories, ready for execution.
  • Drive recruiting efforts and growth planning for their team.
  • Meet regularly with their direct reports, provide frequent feedback on their work, help the individuals set goals to ensure employee growth and retention goals.
  • Lead technical discussions and drive effective technical decisions covering their area of responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of team management experience and coordinating activities of software project teams.
  • 5+ years of software development with a focus on TDD/BDD and related agile methodologies.
  • Working experience with large scale agile methodologies such as  SAFe or LeSS environment a strong plus.
  • Strong familiarity with prevailing Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery technologies and methodologies.
  • Development and collaboration experience with Git Workflow.
  • Experience with design & architecture using modern design patterns in a cloud environment, especially with Microsoft Azure (or AWS).
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities and determine resource requirements.
