Cruise is looking for a Senior Project Engineer II, Acoustics Test to help define the testing and lab development roadmap of our acoustics labs, as well as contribute positively to our testing culture by developing sustainable and scalable test processes and methods. In this position, you will work on a multidisciplinary team and with various stakeholders to define, develop and coordinate the testing of our acoustics sensor suite, including Accelerometers (Touch and Collision Transducers), Ultrasonic Transducers and Microphones. This is a hybrid working arrangement where 1-3 days of onsite work is expected per week.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Partner with stakeholders to define the testing activities and lab development roadmap for our acoustics sensors (eg. accelerometers, ultrasonic transducers and microphones) from component testing through vehicle-level verification & validation

  • Coordinate cross-functional test team activities to achieve testing milestones and deadlines 

  • Ensure test data is processed, appropriately reviewed and reported to stakeholders

  • Communicate testing status and timelines in various forums across multiple acoustic sensor programs

  • Engage with stakeholders (e.g. systems engineers, hardware development engineers, Program Management) to understand testing needs and ensure our testing capabilities meets those requirements

  • Maintain the backlog of testing activities across the test team based on program schedules and deliverables

  • Engage with development teams to commit backlog items to sprint deliverables (negotiate on what gets put in each sprint)

  • Work with the larger organization to communicate and make tradeoffs to meet corporate objectives

  • Work with development teams to address questions / concerns during sprints

 

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • BA, MS or PhD in Acoustic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or another related field

  • Expertise in testing acoustics technologies, such as accelerometers, ultrasonic transducers or microphones, in controlled and real-world environments

  • Understanding of sound propagation, and acoustic scattering in the context of experimental design
  • Proficient in data processing and statistical analysis using Python/Matlab (or similar programming language) to perform data processing, visualization, and analytics

  • 1-2 years leading cross functional projects, including coordination of technical resources (e.g. direct reports or multidisciplinary team coordination)

  • Experience translating system-level requirements into test strategy and measurable metrics

  • Experience leading a team of engineers to plan, set up, and execute hardware test campaigns

  • Strong understanding and use of JIRA (or equivalent)

  • Experience as a Product Owner or Project Manager

  • Previous experience in the automotive industry

 

The salary range for this position is $137,400 - 202,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
