Purpose and Objective:
SAP America, Inc. seeks a Senior Developer at our Palo Alto, CA location responsible for engineering focusing on design, coding, testing, and quality assurance of specific SAP product features as part of a development team.
Expectations and Tasks:
Build SAP’s Business Data Cloud and implement a highly available and scalable data platform infrastructure using cloud, SAP proprietary, and open-source technologies. Implement parts of a highly available and scalable data platform infrastructure leveraging, established SAP technologies. Solve complex problems in the distributed data processing domain – availability, scalability, performance, multiple consistency models. Collaborate with cross-functional product and engineering teams to deliver on a common vision and delight our customers. Champion best in class engineering methodologies and architectural practices within our organization.
Education and Occupational Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Employer will accept a 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree. Alternatively, a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:
Experience must include four (4) years involving each of the following:

Python/PySpark and at least two Java, Scala, C/C++, or Golang and their eco-system;

Modern Database Management Systems and SAP HANA Cloud specifically, Postgres and MySQL;

Cloud native data processing environments such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud and technologies including Spark, Flink, Hadoop and Kafka;

Designing and implementing Kubernetes, Helm and microservices orchestration;
-
Designing, building and maintaining CI/CD systems using Github Actions and Jenkins pipelines along with relevant plugins and extensions;

GitOps model, self-healing, reconciliation and resilience;
-
Agile practices and cloud native development approaches; and
-
Leading small to medium sized projects spanning multiple time zones.
