The city of Las Vegas invites applications for Sr Inclusion Recreation Leader. This position provides a wide variety of social, recreational, inclusive and community activities at the advanced journey skill level which enhances the mental, physical and communal health of individuals and groups of people of all abilities and ensures that designed activities comply with least restrictive environment guidelines; to provide expertise to others in the development of programs; and to perform tasks at a high technical skill level that establishes the framework for high quality performance in recreational, therapeutic or community work.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position possesses a current CTRS license, has worked with youth or adult with disabilities, has knowledge of adaptive outdoor recreation, adaptive sport programming and experience in building positive community relationships.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the advanced journey level class within the Inclusion Recreation Leader series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Inclusion Recreation Leader by the independent performance of the full range of duties as assigned including overseeing others and delegating work activities. Employees at this level are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

Supervision Received and Exercised

Receives direction from the Recreation Coordinator or higher level supervisory or managerial staff.

Act as a lead worker, exercising functional or technical supervision, including scheduling and assigning tasks, providing guidance, ensuring work is completed according to proper procedure, monitoring work progress, and reviewing results.

Examination Process
A civil service examination will be conducted in accordance with the Civil Service Rules of the city of Las Vegas. The supplemental questions are the examination. Falsification of information may result in disqualification from a recruitment or removal from a city position. Additional information will not be accepted after the closing date. The supplemental questions are weighted 100% for placement on an eligible list, and must be worked on individually by the applicant only. The supplemental questions of all qualified applicants will be reviewed for placement on an eligible list.

Eligible List
You must score 70% or higher on the examination to be placed on the eligible list.

Selection Process
Final candidate selection will include list placement and may include hiring interview (if applicable). Any individual offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test, complete background check, and may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. Some positions may require preliminary background checks. The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for current and/ or future openings which may include part-time or full-time positions.

Essential Functions

Create, manage, implement, coordinate, and evaluate a variety of recreational activities, programs, trips and events for individuals of all abilities. Arrange schedules and facilities for programs.
Train and direct staff in the technical functions of inclusive or adaptive recreation programming.
Participate in developing, planning and organizing accessible or inclusive special events for the community.
Recommend and assist in the implementation of program goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
Monitors facilities for function, safety and equipment issues; performs regular safety and health related inspections, cleanings, and maintenance services as needed; requests maintenance services as necessary.
