The fulltime Material Analyst role supports Leidos Civil Group’s operations as part of the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) team.  ASC provides logistical and operational support for the United States Antarctic Program (USAP), which manages the world’s longest supply chain. The Material Analyst is responsible for two main duties: maintaining the program’s master materials inventory database in the system of record, (IBM Maximo software program), and reviewing Central Material Planning and Control (CMPC) item activity data, adjusting stock levels, and determining replenishment requirements.

Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.

Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $74,000 - $78,000 annually.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

  • Vision:  Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

  • Mission:  To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines.  The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

The Challenge:

  • Monitors data integrity, manages data quality control, and record standardization. Performs data validation and integrity checks within the Maximo database. Analyzes new material requisitions for accuracy and completeness prior to processing new item master record creation.

  • Identifies item master records to be labeled as capital equipment, creates manufacturer company records, and assigns spare parts to National Science Foundation (NSF) tagged asset records. Assigns spare parts to asset records and classifies records as hazardous materials, medical supplies, or adds special handling specifications. 

  • Creates and maintains shipping company records. Uploads product pictures to the item master record and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Updates part numbers, average prices, and creates vendor company records. 

  • Reviews Central Material Purchases (CMP) line item activity data, adjusts stock level objectives, determines replenishment of requirements, and initiates procurements to meet demand inventory level. 

  • Collects, processes, and maintains data to create program-level supply chain reports and metrics in order to identify and mitigate programmatic challenges. 

  • Monitors the external environment and internal trends to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) in the program’s supply activities. 

  • Meets tasks deadlines while maintaining high quality
