Physician - Family Medicine (Less than 20 hours weekly)- Part-Time

University of Maryland's newest off campus site in Columbia, Maryland. The hours of operation will be Monday thru Friday 8a.m. to 8p.m. and weekends from 8a.m. to 6p.m. Clinical responsibilities include: examining patients, assessing symptoms, and physical information ordering, executing and analyzing various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition; administering and prescribing medications and treatments; documenting the patient's visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action; providing patient education and methods regarding treatment of various conditions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Qualified applicants will possess: Doctoral degree in Medicine in the area of specialty; ALS/BCLS required; Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine or eligibility for certification; 3-5 years of clinical experience; experience with ambulatory EMR preferred; demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, and or/publishing; ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served; ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population and age specific needs; highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patient's, patient's families, departmental unites, and medical and nursing staff on all essential matters.
Essential Job Functions
1. Reviews patients file/record including allergies, medical problems, medications, and immunization
status.
2. Interviews patients for health history. Obtains thorough medical histories to include allergies, past
medical conditions, current meds, review of systems, family history, social history, and present
illness.
3. Examines patients for symptoms or physical information.
4. Orders and executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on
patient’s condition.
5. Analyzes report and findings of tests and examination and diagnoses condition of patient.
6. Prescribes and administers treatments. Determines and prescribes medication, dosage, and schedule
given the patient’s conditions and allergies. Discusses any possible side effects to medication or
immunization with patient.
7. Answers patient calls promptly; researches, investigates, and resolves patient problems to the
satisfaction of the patient.
