Wheel Loader Operator – Mulch Production & Snow Removal
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Employment Type: Full-Time / Seasonal Peaks
Position Overview
Join our team as a Wheel Loader Operator, a vital role supporting both manufacturing operations and commercial snow removal services. This position focuses on the safe, efficient operation of heavy equipment—such as wheel loaders, trucks, and forklifts—to handle, transport, and manage large volumes of mulch and snow.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate wheel loaders to move, load, and transport mulch, soil, or snow.
- Load end-dump trailers with mulch or snow for removal from site.
- Plow large parking lots and open areas with a wheel loader.
- Perform daily equipment checks and report maintenance needs.
- Always follow company and OSHA safety protocols.
- Support mulch production and snow removal teams as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a wheel loader or similar heavy equipment.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with clean record.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, safety guidelines, and short correspondence.
- Strong work ethic with consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to work extended hours and adjust to changing conditions during peak snow/mulch seasons.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in snow removal and/or mulch/soil manufacturing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work in all weather conditions, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit while operating machinery.
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and balancing.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments.
- Vision requirements include depth perception, distance/close vision, color recognition, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold).
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise levels.
- Conditions may vary by site, with seasonal peaks requiring extended hours.
