Sr. Site Reliability Engineer, Site Search

Who We Are

The Site Search Platform  is a mission critical team that helps drive our revenue stream by empowering our customers with searchability across our platform. We are seeking engineers who can help us drive adopting best practices around Lucene based search backends powered by ElasticSearch. While you will be working with ElasticSearch, extensive experience is not needed as long as you are a fast learner and can demonstrate strong fundamentals in one of software engineering, site reliability, or infrastructure.

What You'll Do: 

• Partner with business stakeholders including Storefront, MarTech, Global Supplier Tech, Pricing Tech and partner groups in Infrastructure & Platforms to understand their businesses and co-develop impactful solutions that drive key business value.
• Build, design and implement robust and scalable APIs and infrastructure automation.
• Contribute to design and implementation of CI/CD for the Site Search Platform on top of Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Improve and maintain the software and infrastructure that your team develops and operates.
• Provide guidance and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to streamline and improve adoption of ElasticSearch deployments running  on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) within Wayfair. 
• Develop and monitor OKRs for key product initiatives and ensure alignment with stakeholder objectives.
• Use Agile processes to collaborate with partnering teams to execute the roadmap.

 

What You’ll Need

• 5 + years experience of server-side software engineering experience (Java, Go or Python etc).
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure roles with strong fundamentals in Linux.
• 5+ years of experience operating with TCP/IP, load-balancing, security and operating production environments.
• 5+ years of experience with Search Platforms like ElasticSearch.
• 5+ years of experience with ElasticSearch configuration and schema optimization.
• Involvement in some on-premise to cloud migration, or some container adoption strategy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Positive, people-oriented, and collaborative attitude.
• A mentality that pushes through issues with creative solutions and tenacity, while maintaining a grace-under-pressure demeanor.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency, knowledge and experience with adoption and leveraging cloud-native technology in large-sized organizations (AWS, Azure or GCP, with preference to experience with GCP)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or education or experience in a technical capacity (Computer/Electrical Science/Engineering etc.)
