DESCRIPTION
The GIS Associate will join the LiDAR-Pavement team in our Transportation vertical. He/she/they will be involved in a variety of geospatial projects across the country. Responsibilities include hands-on evaluation and manipulation of spatial and attribute information, data conversion, cartographic mapping, and a willingness to increase skillsets with training, research, and working with teammates on potentially complex projects.
- 5 or more years of GIS and remote sensing data processing and integration experience including data from high-speed LiDAR and pavement condition inspection
- demonstrated experience of entering, manipulating, and reporting data with SQL databases
- demonstrated experience of using Python and other programming langue to perform quality control and quality assurance tasks on large quantities of data.
- demonstrated experience of using Python and other programming languages to automate data processing and data reporting workflows.
- experience performing data analytics to develop insights and time-series trends
- demonstrated experience working with infrastructure asset inventory data generated from mobile LiDAR data collection
- demonstrated experience working with pavement condition data generated from high-speed pavement surface scans
- experience working with data hosted in cloud servers (Azure and AWS) as well as local servers
- demonstrated experience working independently to identify challenges and delivering solutions
- must have GIS experience
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•Minimum two-year degree or applicable professional experience; Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in GIS, Geography, Science, or related field of study is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience working directly with GIS data, preferably in a consulting environment
•1-2 years of experience with Python and/or JavaScript
•Interest in working with open source GIS software: QGIS, PostGIS, GeoServer
•Must have the ability to work both independently, with limited supervision, and as part of a geographically dispersed team.
•Outstanding written and oral communication skills
•Technical documentation development skills are a plus
•Ability to translate technical concepts into layman’s terms
•Ability to coordinate with project stakeholders
•Strong analytical abilities, solid analytical skills with the ability to quickly identify and solve client issues.
•Ability to travel if a project warrants it.
COMPENSATION
The range for this role is $59,000 - $94,000. This will be dependent on the skills of the incoming candidate.
