Job Summary
Essential Functions
CPOC Labs Architects provide the highest level of technical consultation to account teams. You will work with customers, the account team and possibly partners to understand and interpret requirements to demonstrate best how NetApp can solve the customers’ business problem. You will set dates and deliverables, develop a test plan, and manage expectations for the account teams and customers. During the implementation and demonstration phases of a POC, you will coordinate the activities of the people involved. You will always be deeply involved with the technical aspects of the POCs, e.g., consulting on system configuration and analyzing performance data. Often, you will guide the demonstration activities and will present results and conclusions to customers.
Job Requirements
Non-Technical
• Willing and able to travel occasionally, domestic and international (less than 5%)
• Ability to clearly articulate (written and verbal) complex technical topics
• Good presentation skills to audiences (primarily technical) of varying sizes
• Good interpersonal communication and customer service skills
• Demonstrated project management and technical coordination/leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and drive activities independently and to deliver results when expected
Technical
• Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to apply them to solve business problems
• Excellent knowledge of at least one variant of Linux and preferably also one Windows OS
• Excellent understanding of disk storage subsystems (NetApp, in particular), architecture, and performance characteristics
• Strong understanding of the following: OS design, file systems storage protocols, and IP networking
• Good troubleshooting and debugging skills: e.g., packet trace analysis, performance data interpretation
• Experience with load generation and analysis tools
• Good knowledge of scripting languages
• Highly desirable: good knowledge of at least one server virtualization technology
• Highly desirable: good knowledge of at least one enterprise application
Qualifications
• 8 to 12 years of experience is preferred.
• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering; or related field is preferred.
• Experience which demonstrates a significant level of expertise in technical specifications required to sell NetApp products and services is required.
• Specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth.
• Pre-sales experience.
