Database Manager and IT Support Specialist

This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a  Public Trust clearance to be considered.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

Designs, implements, and maintains SQL and Oracle databases, develops scripts in various languages, and supports GOTS/COTS databases. Manages database security, optimization, and backups while integrating systems. Supports database projects, web development, and interfaces. Provides technical recommendations, workflow improvements, and serves as a liaison for web development between Keesler Medical Center and the Defense Health Agency.

Database Manager and Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist Responsibilities Include: 

• Design, create, implement, and maintain SQL and Oracle databases.
• Develop and document scripts in C, C++, C#, Java, or other programming languages.
• Maintain and support Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) databases.
• Manage database dictionaries and integrate systems.
• Ensure database security, optimization, and space allocation as environments grow.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Manage user access, security, and privilege levels for hospital intranet and internet systems.
• Perform database backups, restore procedures, and ensure data protection and availability.
• Provide recommendations for software solutions, technologies, and development tools.
• Develop and maintain internet and intranet services, including web integration.
• Serve as a technical liaison between Keesler Medical Center and the Defense Health Agency for web development and implementation.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Database Manager and Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

• Personnel performing the database management/administration function shall maintain Security+ certification at a minimum.
• Preferred: Oracle certifications or relevant education in database administration, information technology, or computer science.
• Experience in SQL and Oracle database administration.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, and Java.
• Knowledge of database security, performance optimization, and integration with commercial vendor databases.
• Experience in web development and integration.
• Familiarity with system backups, data protection, and recovery procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Excellent documentation and scripting skills.
• Ability to manage and secure database access.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Frequent sitting, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing.
• Occasional walking or standing.
• Primarily office-based, interacting with diverse personnel in various functions.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
