Job Summary

 

Duke Health seeks to hire a Cancer Patient Support Program Coordiantor for Wake County. This role will support the Duke Cancer Center Raleigh, Duke Women’s Cancer Care Raleigh, with occasional travel to Duke Cancer Center Cary and Duke Cancer Center Durham

 

Work Performed

•    Supervise the Self-Image Services team and daily functions of the 2 Cancer boutiques; ensure product availability and inventory and partner with medical leadership to evaluate new product requests; continually educate staff members on product use and patient treatment options and corresponding side effects impacting body-image; work with local community organizations for donations for the no-charge section for patients
•    Manage all Cancer Patient Support services across Wake County cancer locations (inpatient and outpatient locations) by increasing awareness and utilization of services through regular staff and patient education outreach; engage in regular communication with other Cancer Support team members including Child Life Specialist, Medical Family Therapist, Volunteer Coordinator and other team members as needed
•    Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Oncology Volunteer Services program including supporting key roles such as Engagement Cart, Pets at Duke, Wayfinder, and potential future roles in the boutique and KidsCan!; provide education on Cancer Support services to volunteers; ensure volunteer schedules are accurate and covered; continually work with clinic leadership to identify any potential new volunteer roles and responsibilities to best meet patient and family needs
•    Coordinate the daily operations of the Pets at Duke program in partnership with the Pets at Duke Coordinator; communicate and advertise pet therapy events to patients and staff
•    Support the partnership and operational support of our Breast Prosthetics and DME vendor; improve communication and access for patients and clinical teams
•    Coordinate all patient event support and logistics for education and awareness within the community (ex. Survivorship Day, Mammogram event, Light the Night, Baseball Cancer Screening and Education, Tree of Hope, etc.)
•    Manage and improve communication and education of all Supportive Care and Survivorship services across Wake County Cancer locations, for patients, families, staff and providers (ex. Monthly Cancer Care Calendar; resource information; elevator and waiting room fliers and brochures, etc.)
•    Promote expansion and streamline Cancer Patient Support services across Wake County in conjunction with leadership to continually improve the quality and experience for our patients


General Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

•    Plan, coordinate and administer activities of assigned programs to include developing, implementing, and supervising related procedures, processes, services and systems; train employees in proper methods and procedures and ensure correctness of work.
•    Develop, plan, coordinate and implement activities including, but not limited to, seminars, conferences, workshops, short courses, clubs, shows, public events and other related programs; develop and coordinate new ideas and concepts for program themes, materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing program components.
•    Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, investigate trends, and recommend and implement modifications to improve program effectiveness.
•    Coordinate and/or participate in public relations activities to include preparing and supervising the production of brochures, bulletins, newsletters and other promotional materials and/or publications, preparing press releases, designing ads and fliers, and responding to inquiries; develop plans and schedules for release of publicity materials.
•    Represent assigned programs; serve on various committees and attend professional meetings as appropriate.
•    Maintain liaison with other programs, offices and departments at Duke to coordinate program business and to accomplish program objectives; interface with external organizations as appropriate to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized.
