Staff Product Engineer (San Jose, CA)
Job Description:
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the development of systems and subsystem products in the silicon design group in Qorvo SFBU. This engineer will contribute to the characterization, qualification, and release of MEMS-alone and integrated sensor (IC + MEMS) products. The responsibility will may potentially grow into MCU and haptic driver as the roadmap products unfold. As a member of a vertically integrated team, the engineer will be directly supporting silicon evaluation and application at various assembly levels up to the system level product and will be closely working with application, silicon design, operations, and reliability teams.
Responsibilities:
- Vertically integrate all aspects of silicon bring-up from hardware development, silicon design characterization, silicon debug, design for test (DFT), qualification, and release to production.
- Collaborate with silicon design teams to ensure that testability is properly considered during the design phase, and transition test development process into scalable, reliable, and cost-effective mass productions.
- Analyze wafer sort/final test/bench/qualification data, conduct failure analysis, and drive issue resolution as well as address potential test gaps and correlation issues throughout the manufacturing process.
- Transfer knowledge through proper documentation (test plans, compliant matrix, yield analysis etc.) to application teams to ensure all data is available to support datasheet and potential customer demands.
- Monitor foundry process via statistical analysis of PCM and in-line data, to optimize yield.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields
- > 10 years of experience in semiconductor product engineering
- Fundamentals in mixed-signal circuits at block- and transistor-level
- Hands-on experience with mixed-signal circuit and sensor bench level testing. Ability to debug and characterize analog systems using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Data analysis techniques with JMP
- Good communication skill for cross functional collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields
- Understanding failure analysis techniques such as FIB, SEM, IR, and CSAM
- Knowledge of the MEMS/semiconductor device physics and their manufacturing process (both front-end and back-end)
- Understanding of packaging techniques such as FCBGA, FCCSP, WLCSP, and QFN
- Exposure to foundry/assembly process operations, and be able to establish communications with the external fab (both front-end and back-end) engineers
- Scripting experience with Matlab and/or Python
- Exposure to CAD tools (ex. SolidWorks)
