Job Description
We are looking for an initiative-taking Revenue Accounting Manager with experience in the Software and/or Hardware Industry.
You will be part of a team that has responsibility for the accounting and revenue recognition process for EMEA. In this role you will have exposure to contract negotiations as well as strategies including pricing for a fast growing, cloud services provider. You are the internal subject matter expert and technical revenue resource for the sales and commercial teams to draw upon during the contract negotiation. Working closely with and communicates effectively in a team environment interacting with various internal stakeholders, including various levels in the sales, operations and finance organizations, as well as with external stakeholders, such as the Company's external auditors.
What you get to do in this role:
- Serve as a technical accounting subject matter expert and partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal and Sales Operations during the contract negotiation process by analyzing the impact of contract terms, communicating the revenue impact, and offering alternative structures.
- Assess revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606
- Exercise judgment within defined policies and authoritative literature to determine appropriate action related to revenue-related transactions as well as writing related technical memos when necessary.
- Trusted advisor to partner in a regional capacity to drive deal velocity and NNACV
- Educate stakeholders through creation and delivery of training for revenue recognition rules, policies and practices.
- Partner in a GTM capacity with leadership to scale and participate in transformational projects.
- Challenge and assist in process improvements and implementation to streamline and shorten revenue close cycle.
- Monitor relevant US GAAP and SEC developments and international developments to ensure revenue recognition policies and procedures are compliant.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA)
- 5+ years relevant industry accounting experience, including process and system experience, preferably with a background in a public accounting firm.
- Proficient understanding of (US GAAP) software revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Prior SaaS, software or hardware industry revenue recognition experience is a must
- Strong analytical skills and detail-oriented self-starter with both drive and ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and able to simplify complex issues for non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret complex commercial transactions and propose alternatives in line with company requirements
- Dynamic team player with great interpersonal skills and positive attitude
